Australia’s Renewables-First Fuel Company
Driving the transition to sustainable renewable fuels - powering construction, buildings and the movement of goods across Australia.
Fossil diesel is the traditional fuel of the Australian economy.
Renewable Diesel fuels the future of the Australian economy sustainably.
Renewable Diesel reduces your emissions to zero tomorrow.
Renewable Diesel is the quickest transition path towards net-zero.
What is Renewable Diesel?
-
Feedstock
- Made from 100% renewable sources like agricultural waste, animal waste and used cooking oils.
- Unlike bio-diesel which can use virgin products, Renewable Diesel only uses waste products.
- Never in competition with food or agriculture production.
-
Chemical Composition
- The hydro-treatment process uses high pressures and temperatures to create hydrocarbons. Renewable Diesel is all but chemically identical to fossil diesel.
- Can be used as a drop-in fuel without any modifications to plant or equipment.
- Can be used at 100% purity (HVO100 or R100).
-
-
Storage
- Renewable Diesel is considered a stable fuel, due to its resistance to water absorption and oxidation.
- It has lower sulphur, lower aromatics, and a higher flashpoint, making it safe to store.
- Can be stored longer than fossil diesel and can use existing tanks and fuel boxes.

Renewable Diesel - The Benefits
-
Immediate Emission Reduction
- Zero* Scope 1 Emissions (CO2)
- Lower Sulphur content
- Lower Nitrous Oxides
- Lower fine particulates ~30% or more
- No carbon offsets required
-
Drop-in Fuel
- Fully compatible and interchangeable with traditional fossil diesel.
- Can be used at 100% purity (HVO100 or R100), or at any blend.
- Can be stored in the same tanks as fossil diesel, with no flushing regime required.
-
Keep the Fleet, Change the Fuel
- A transition to new fleets of EVs or hydrogen vehicles comes with significant CAPEX (new vehicles, new infrastructure).
- A swap to Renewable Diesel means no change to existing diesel fleets, plant, machinery or storage requirements - operations continue ‘as is’.
-
No Business Interruptions
- Unlike EVs, a change to Renewable Diesel means no change to business processes and systems.
- Run existing fleets, plant and machinery to the end of their natural life.
- Productivity continues, without interruption.
-
Future Proof Your Business
- Demonstrate a commitment to sustainability objectives and 2030 net-zero targets.
- Meet stricter emission standards and maintain operational efficiency, with no change to the quality of your final product or service.
- Position your business for a more sustainable future, adapting to changes in regulations and consumer expectations from day 1.
Where is Renewable Diesel currently used?
Renewable Diesel is in broad market use across Europe and the US
HVO, while relatively new to Australia, is widely used in Europe and the U.S., where it often replaces or blends with conventional diesel in transportation and industrial sectors. Government regulations and incentives in both regions, aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, have made renewable diesel attractive.
In Europe, HVO technology gained momentum in the early 2010s as Finland began producing HVO diesel. Growth across the EU was fueled by the European Commission’s Renewable Energy Directive (RED) whilst individual countries such as Germany, France, Netherlands, Spain and Finland incentivised low-carbon fuel use.
In the US, the EPA expanded the Renewable Fuel Standard Program to include renewable diesel, whilst states such as California have replaced over 50% of diesel with cleaner fuels aiming for carbon neutrality by 2045.
Major adopters in Europe and the U.S. include Amazon Data Centres, FedEx Europe, DB Schenker Logistics and Microsoft Europe.
In Asia, Singapore’s Changi Airport has mandated Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) usage at 1% SAF from 2026, increasing to 3–5% by 2030 and is trialling renewable diesel for airside vehicles, supporting its goal of net-zero aviation emissions by 2050. Hong Kong International Airport is also trialling renewable diesel in ground support equipment, while Cathay Pacific targets 10% SAF usage by 2030, underscoring aviation’s push for sustainability.
Renewable Fuels are a priority for future Australia
Renewable diesel is gaining recognition in Australian Government policies as a sustainable alternative to conventional diesel, supporting emissions reduction and energy security. Key developments:
Fuel Quality Standards (Paraffinic Diesel) Determination 2025 : a new Paraffinic Diesel (renewable diesel) standard, legislated for the first time in February 2025. Specifically recognising and supporting renewable diesel as a separate product to fossil diesel. This paves the way for further changes to Government policy to support renewable and biofuels.
Future Made in Australia Act: a package of reforms and initiatives to foster growth in emerging industries, including prioritising low-carbon liquid fuels.
Government Allocated Funds (May 2024) to support the renewable fuels industry:
Future Made in Australia Innovation Fund: $1.7b to support net-zero innovations, including low-carbon liquid fuels.
Low-Carbon Fuels Certification Scheme: $18.5m to develop a certification scheme for low-carbon fuels, ensuring quality and sustainability.
Impact Analysis: $1.5m to analyse potential support measures to promote renewable fuel adoption.
Both BHP and Rio Tinto have also successfully completed full mine-site pilot programs on renewable diesel, and received OEM sign-off.
